just what the world needs…
another blogger!!…..anyways, as you can see, my “radio” name is special steve and i am now an official blogger of NO SIGNAL RADIO!!! great name [e]…so this little blog site of ours (me, T, and [e]) is a site dedicated to music, indie music to be exact, but probably not just indie music. we’re sure to write about whatever we feel like writing about.
i love music more than most other things on this planet, and i truly think it’s the single greatest contribution our civilization has bestowed upon this glorious blue floating marble we call earth. other things we’ve contributed, such as: pollution, disease, global warming, famine, violence, plague, war, oprah, genocide, and extinction of countless species of animal, don’t even stand a chance when it comes to our gift to this planet called music!
so, i believe this is gunna be the start of a beautiful relationship between us, those that make the noises, and those of you out there who enjoy listening to said noises! us at NSR currently reside in the north texas area and are very familiar with the noisemakers from this region. and our reviews and opinions will greatly reflect that! so, without further adieu…my first review:
artist: Sarah Jaffe

look her up, listen to her words, and get lost in a world that is probably eerily familiar to your own…in a sick twisted way of course. she hails from the Denton TX music scene and is packing every joint she has played lately. i’ve been a fan since the 5 to 10 audience coffee shop days where she held each and every one of us coffee (with baily’s) drinkers in her web of sultry southern woman words of sharp nails and satin blankets of familiar pain and nourishment. back then it was just her on stage (or whatever she happened to be balancing on at the time) hiding behind an invisible acoustic guitar with six strings of steel holding her and us together….
we watched in an unshakeable transe as she guided us through her world of loss, angst, love, insecurity, and self-destructive madness. her music may be described as folk, country, or southern-fried acoustic rock, but i’m not much into stereo-typing things. so i guess i would describe what she does onstage is something of a sharing of souls between her and her audience where we are all one on the same distant plane somewhere in a universe not yet created. when she sings, she sings not to us, but inside us. she borrows our skin for a bit, wears it around onstage, then releases it into the air so we might choose to put it back on if we wish. i still haven’t returned to mine after seeing her perform the first time!
i’d love to go further in describing what Sarah Jaffe is, but it’s late and i needs me sleep! so here’s a better way to explain it…anyways! enjoy!
